Nigerian Army Hosts Corporals’ Contest to Boost Readiness

The Nigerian Army is conducting a major Corporals’ Contest at Ekehuan Barrack in Benin City, Edo State, to strengthen frontline readiness. The event, hosted by the 4 Brigade, commenced on a Monday and is scheduled to last a week.

Brigadier General Ahm Balogun, the commander of the 4 Brigade, welcomed participants and expressed gratitude for their safe arrival. He emphasized the importance of enhancing operational readiness among personnel during this critical time of evolving security challenges in Nigeria.

The contest is designed to improve combat proficiency, leadership capacity, teamwork, and organizational skills among junior soldiers. Major General Chinedu Nnebeif, representing the command of the 2 Division, urged participants to maintain professionalism throughout the exercise and assured that the judging process would be fair and transparent.

The event includes various competitive formats such as drills, weapon handling, and obstacle courses. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, provided necessary resources for the competition, which includes participation from multiple brigades.
