Nigerian Army to Probe Military Officers Shielding Drug Peddlers in Lagos

The Nigerian Army's 81 Division is launching an investigation into claims made by Jimoh Saliu, the chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA in Lagos, accusing certain military officers of shielding illicit drug peddlers operating in the Apapa Iganmu area. Saliu alleged that a local known as Gidan Drama Marine Beach Community in Apapa has become a hub for illicit drug activities, with criminals being protected by some military officials.

He further appealed to the state government and stakeholders to acquire the area for the construction of a secondary school. In response, Lt.

Col. Musa Yahaya, the spokesperson for the 81 Division Nigerian Army, emphasized the need for specific details to facilitate a proper investigation.

Saliu expressed concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the community, with local government officials sometimes hindering enforcement operations.
