Mary Ikoku Seeks House of Representatives Seat in 2027

Mary Ikoku is bidding for the House of Representatives seat for the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in Abia State, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC). She has expressed her intention to contest in the upcoming elections, driven by a commitment to address socio-economic challenges in the area.

Ikoku noted the widespread hardship, poor healthcare access, and increasing substance abuse among youth in Arochukwu and Ohafia. She criticized the weak impact of current legislative representation and emphasized the need for human-centered policies.

Acknowledging the performance of the incumbent, Hon. Ib Okpara Osomwa, particularly in anti-corruption and gender-related legislation, she plans to prioritize human capital development, healthcare, and social protection for women and youth.

Ikoku is intensifying consultations within the APC ahead of the primaries and is optimistic about her chances, drawing from her advocacy work and experience in civil society initiatives aimed at empowering vulnerable families.
