Ex-Abia Speaker Orji Declares for House of Reps Seat

Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, the immediate past Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, has formally announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives seat representing the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency. He aims to challenge the current occupant, Obi Aguocha of the Labour Party, who is seeking a second term.

Orji, the son of former Abia State Governor Theodor Orji, made his declaration during an address on Friday, emphasizing his commitment to providing quality representation for the constituents. He stated, "I offer myself once again not just as an aspirant but as a voice committed to the development and advancement of the people." Orji is affiliated with the Progress Congress and is confident in his grassroots support, suggesting that Aguocha's reliance on popular rule within the Labour Party may not suffice against his established local structures.
