Senate Orders Arrest of Bandits Flaunting Cash on TikTok

The Nigerian Senate, during a debate, has mandated security agencies to take action against bandits who publicly display wealth on social media platforms like TikTok. Senator Sundai Karimi, representing Kogi West, highlighted the surge in banditry and terrorist attacks in his region.

Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, proposed an additional prayer urging the Nigerian Police Force and the National Cybercrime Centre to monitor and apprehend individuals engaging in criminal activities online. She expressed concern over the audacity of criminal groups showcasing their wealth on social media, noting a recent incident where bandits distributed 100 million Naira in just 30 minutes.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio described this situation as troubling and a challenge to government authority. He emphasized the need for transparency in arrests and called for improved coordination among security agencies to address the issue effectively.
