Arthur Okonkwo Not Yet Eligible for Super Eagles Selection

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo is not yet eligible for selection to the Super Eagles. This announcement puts an end to speculation regarding his international future.

Okonkwo, 24, was born in London to Nigerian parents and has previously featured at the youth level for England. As a former Arsenal academy product, he has shown a desire to switch allegiance to Nigeria, with reports suggesting that FIFA approval for this change could come by December 2025.

Despite rumors of Okonkwo being included in Nigeria's squad for the upcoming four-nation invitational tournament scheduled to take place in Amman, Jordan next month, NFF clarified that the administrative process is incomplete. Dayo Enebi, head of the NFF's international competitions, dismissed suggestions that the paperwork has been finalized, indicating that Okonkwo will remain ineligible until FIFA formally confirms the change of association.
