FIFA Clears Arthur Okonkwo for Nigeria National Team

FIFA has officially cleared goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo to represent Nigeria, making him eligible for selection ahead of the March international window. The 24-year-old, who was born in London to Nigerian parents, previously represented England at various youth levels from 2015 to 2019.

His eligibility was confirmed following discussions with Super Eagles coach Eric Chell during the Unity Cup in London last year. Okonkwo's clearance comes amid uncertainty surrounding the first-choice goalkeeper, Stanlei Nwabali, who is currently without a club.

The Super Eagles are set to compete in a four-nation invitational tournament in Amman, Jordan, where they will face Iran on March 27 and the host nation later. The team is expected to open camp on March 24.

Okonkwo, a former Arsenal goalkeeper, has been performing well at Wrexham, recording six clean sheets in 20 league appearances this season, with manager Phil Parkinson praising his development despite facing injuries.
