Nigerian Table Tennis Stars Drop in Latest ITTF Rankings

Nigerian table tennis player Aruna Quadri dropped in the latest February world rankings released by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). Quadri, who previously held the top spot in Africa, slipped from 33rd to 34th in the world rankings with 875 points, just below Egypt's Omar Assar who climbed to 33rd with 976 points.

This shift marks a significant moment in African table tennis rivalry as Assar has been in superb form, registering solid wins on the European circuit. Other Nigerian male players like Matthew Kuti, Abdulbasit Abdulfatai, Olajide Omotayo, and Taiwo Mati also experienced drops in their rankings.

In the women's category, Fatimo Bello, Nigeria's top female player, fell in the rankings but continues to lead the women's national team. The Nigerian table tennis players are now focused on regaining ground on the continent and global stage in upcoming ITTF events.
