New Leadership Elected for Nigeria's Defence Industry

The Defence Industry Association of Nigeria (DIAN) has elected a new Executive Committee to enhance local arms production in response to ongoing insecurity in Nigeria. Maj. Gen. B.I.

Alaya from the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) will serve as Chairman, with Alhaji Saifullahi Babangida as Vice Chairman, Ogonna Okonkwo as General Secretary, Otunba Adedotun Henry Bademosi as Financial Secretary, Dr. Chuks Ekwueme as Treasurer, Sunday Akhigbe as Welfare Secretary, Bem Ibrahim Garba as Publicity Secretary, and Charles Ibanga as Assistant Financial Secretary. The committee's goals include strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing, expanding technology partnerships, and supporting local content initiatives.

The new leadership aims to consolidate previous achievements and enhance collaboration among industry players while promoting innovation. The association emphasizes the importance of a robust indigenous defence industry to improve national security, stimulate economic diversification, create jobs, and attract investment, ultimately supporting the Federal Government's vision for a competitive defence manufacturing sector.
