NSIB Recovers CVR and FDR After Asaba Aircraft Incident

On June 10, 2026, a Bombardier Challenger CL 601 aircraft, registered as N989BC and operated by VMO Aero Limited, made an emergency landing on a roadway near Asaba, Delta State. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) promptly activated its emergency response procedures and deployed an investigation team to the site.

Captain Alex Badeh Jr., the Director General of NSIB, confirmed the immediate recovery of the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR), which are critical for establishing the facts surrounding the incident. There were no reports of fatalities or serious injuries.

The ongoing investigation will include analysis of the recovered flight records, examination of technical operational records, interviews with relevant personnel, and review of additional evidence. NSIB is coordinating with relevant stakeholders in line with civil aviation investigation regulations.

The bureau has urged the public to provide any photographs, videos, or CCTV footage related to the incident.
