NSIB Investigates Delta Aircraft Incident, Retrieves Recorders

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has initiated an investigation following an incident on June 10, 2026, involving an aircraft with registration number N989BC, operated by VMO Aero Limited, which reportedly landed on a road in Delta before departing again. A statement issued on Thursday confirmed that the NSIB activated its emergency response procedures upon receiving notification of the incident.

The bureau promptly deployed an investigative team to the site and commenced a full-scale investigation. A significant step in this process was the swift recovery of the aircraft's cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder, which will help determine the circumstances surrounding the unusual occurrence.

NSIB's Director General, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., expressed relief that there were no fatalities or serious injuries reported. The bureau's primary focus remains on enhancing aviation safety across Nigeria.

The investigation will involve gathering operational, maintenance, and air traffic control records, as well as interviewing relevant personnel.
