ASF Denies N210 Trillion Discrepancy in NNPCL Accounts

The African Solidarity Forum (ASF) has formally rejected claims made by Senator Ahmad Wadada regarding a N210 trillion discrepancy in the accounts of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). In a statement issued by the forum's Sokoto national coordinator, Alhaji Hamza Usman, the ASF described Wadada's allegations as a "mirage" and cautioned against political theatrics.

The forum expressed deep concern over the mathematical impossibility of the figure presented, which they argue is nearly eight times the size of Nigeria's entire 2024 national budget of approximately N28.7 trillion. The ASF emphasized that the claims are not based on forensic realities and misread the corporate balance sheet.

They clarified that the figures mentioned by the Senate committee are erroneous and represent cumulative multi-year obligations rather than unaccounted funds. The forum also noted that the total crude oil revenue for the federal government from 2017 to 2023 does not aggregate to the alleged N210 trillion.
