Group Rejects ₦210tn Discrepancy in NNPCL Accounts

The Solidar Forum, represented by its national coordinator Hamza Usman, has dismissed allegations made by Senator Ahm Wadada regarding a ₦210 trillion discrepancy in the accounts of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The forum described these claims as a "mirage" and warned against political theatrics that could undermine legislative oversight.

They emphasized that the figures presented by Wadada do not reflect the forensic reality of NNPCL's balance sheet. The group pointed out that Nigeria's 2024 national budget is approximately ₦28.7 trillion, making the idea that a single agency could lose ₦210 trillion implausible.

They noted that total crude oil revenue from 2017 to 2023 does not aggregate to ₦210 trillion. The forum criticized the Senate committee for incorrectly netting figures and urged a sober technical reconciliation instead of media-led ultimatums.

They also highlighted the importance of maintaining Nigeria's reputation with investors and the need for accountability within the NNPCL.
