CAF Confirms AFCON 2027 Will Proceed in East Africa

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed that the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 will take place as scheduled in East Africa, quelling rumors of a potential postponement to 2028. During a media briefing in Tanzania, CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed strong confidence in the joint hosting arrangements involving Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

He emphasized that CAF remains fully committed to ensuring the tournament's success despite ongoing logistical and infrastructural challenges. Motsepe acknowledged the political leadership and support from Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, and Kenyan President William Ruto, urging stakeholders and fans to remain focused on preparations.

He insisted that AFCON 2027 will be staged in East Africa as planned, highlighting the commitment of African nations to deliver a memorable competition and make it one of the best tournaments ever.
