South African Activist Urges Youth at Women of Impact Award

At the Women of Impact in Africa Award, Sophi William de Bruyn, a prominent South African anti-apartheid activist and leader within the African National Congress Women's League, delivered a powerful speech encouraging young Africans to push boundaries and accept risks for a brighter future. She emphasized the importance of youth seeing themselves as integral to the continent's future.

William de Bruyn, who organized resistance campaigns against the injustices of apartheid, reflected on the 60th anniversary of the 1956 women's march in Pretoria, which protested against the pass laws imposed on black women in 1952. As the last surviving leader of that historic march, she highlighted the courage displayed during the protests and called on women to continue inspiring and uplifting future generations.
