Ataoja and Oluwo Clash Over Osun Obas’ Council Ranking

A clash has erupted between the Ataoja and Oluwo over ranking in the Osun Obas’ Council, sparking a traditional tussle that spilled into the digital space. Supporters of the Ataoja of Osogbo argue that the city's status as the state capital confers a superior ranking, while loyalists of the Oluwo of Iwo claim that the Iwo throne predates Osogbo and carries greater ancestral weight.

The dispute escalated during a lecture by Oba Oyetunji to mark his 15th coronation anniversary, where he revisited the controversy. The Ataoja insisted on historical rankings, while the Oluwo's camp countered with claims of ancestral precedence.
