Atiku Abubakar, Amaechi Lead ADC for Ekiti Election

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, and Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transport, have been appointed to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) campaign committee for the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election set for June 20, 2026. The announcement was made public by the party's National Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.

Abubakar is placed first on the committee list, followed by Amaechi in second place, and Moham Hayatu Deen in third. The strategic management team includes notable political figures such as former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, former Minister of State for Education Emeka Nwajiuba, Senator Ireti Kingibe, and former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha.

The ADC aims to challenge the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the upcoming election.
