Atiku Abubakar Wins ADC Presidential Primary for 2027

Atiku Abubakar has been declared the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general election after winning the party's primary election held on Wednesday night at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja. Atiku secured 1,846,370 votes, defeating former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi, who garnered 504,117 votes, and former banker Moham Hayatu-Deen, who received 177,120 votes.

The total votes cast were 2,546,457, with 3,113,599 eligible party members. The primary process began on May 25, 2026, and was conducted through a direct primary system after three aspirants declined to step down.

Following his victory, Atiku called for unity among party members and invited Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen to join him in a broader mission to rescue Nigeria's democracy. However, both Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen reportedly rejected the outcome, alleging manipulation and irregularities in the voting process.
