Atiku Abubakar Urges Tinubu to Cut Fuel Prices for Nigerians

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, called on President Bola Tinubu to take action in the petroleum sector by reducing petrol and diesel prices. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Atiku highlighted the negative effects of high fuel prices on transportation and food costs, stating that the burden has affected Nigerians for over three years.

He argued that when fuel prices rise, transportation costs increase, leading to higher food prices and overall living expenses. Atiku criticized Tinubu's previous dismissal of his proposal for government intervention in fuel pricing, questioning whether various stakeholders, including the Nigeria Labour Congress and petroleum marketers, were also ignorant for calling for policy changes.

He emphasized that the government's current economic policies are failing to address the purchasing power of Nigerians, as rising production costs and unsold goods are prevalent across factories. Atiku concluded that effective leadership requires acknowledging the consequences of policies and being willing to adapt.
