Atiku Condemns Tinubu's Attacks on Cardinal Onaiyekan

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), condemned the Tinubu administration's attacks on Cardinal John Onaiyekan, a respected cleric of the Catholic Church. In a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described the presidency's actions as indicative of a growing intolerance for dissent and uncomfortable truths.

He lamented that instead of engaging with the substance of Onaiyekan's message, the presidency resorted to intimidation and ridicule. Atiku praised the Catholic Church for its historical role as a moral voice in Nigeria, urging other religious leaders to similarly confront power with truth.

He criticized the presidency's response to Onaiyekan as arrogant and disrespectful, arguing it undermines the integrity of the Church and its leaders. Atiku asserted that the presidency should not silence independent voices and should instead engage constructively with criticism.
