Atiku Abubakar Reacts to Fintiri's Defection to APC

Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, responded to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri's defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Atiku characterized Fintiri's move as indicative of political pressure and intimidation rather than a sign of strength for the APC.

Fintiri's defection, which occurred on a Friday, followed the resignation of Bathiya Wesley, the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, along with 15 other lawmakers from the PDP. Atiku, who was the PDP's presidential candidate in the 2019 and 2023 elections, noted that such political realignments are not new and carry implications for power dynamics in the North East region.

He criticized Bola Tinubu's administration for using state institutions to intimidate political opponents and urged citizens to remain vigilant against coercive political tactics. Atiku reaffirmed that every politician has the right to choose their political path, while cautioning against compromising the future for immediate political gains.
