Fintiri's Defection Boosts APC Ahead of Elections

On Friday, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a statewide broadcast. This strategic move is seen as a major political realignment in Adamawa State, as it effectively removes a key political figure from Atiku Abubakar's stronghold.

Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, characterized Fintiri's defection as a significant political gain for the APC, suggesting it weakens Atiku's position ahead of the presidential elections scheduled for next year. Fintiri justified his decision by stating it was made in the interest of the people of Adamawa State.

The announcement included the defection of Fintiri's entire cabinet from the PDP to the APC, marking a substantial shift in the political landscape of the state.
