Atiku Abubakar Condemns N210bn Budget Duplications

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria and a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), condemned the revelation of N210 billion in duplicated allocations in the 2026 federal budget. He criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration for what he described as fiscal recklessness, particularly at a time when Nigeria is facing significant economic challenges.

In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Abubakar highlighted that nearly 90% of Nigerians are experiencing severe economic hardships. He pointed out that the budget anomalies come at a time when the government is asking citizens to make sacrifices while failing to demonstrate fiscal discipline.

Abubakar noted that the duplications in the budget raise serious questions about the integrity of public finances and reflect a broader issue of systemic breakdown in budget discipline. He emphasized that the current economic situation, characterized by high inflation and rising costs, is a direct result of the government's failure to manage resources effectively.
