Atiku Abubakar Questions ₦1.08 Trillion Budget Allocation

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has questioned the allocation of ₦1.08 trillion to the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River, Enugu State, for 2,791 capital projects across Nigeria, as revealed by Tracka's analysis of the 2026 Appropriation Act. Atiku, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, expressed concern over this allocation, describing it as a significant example of budget distortion under the Tinubu administration.

He criticized the government for asking Nigerians to accept painful reforms and higher taxes while simultaneously allowing a cooperative college to manage such a vast number of projects, which he argued undermines the credibility of the budget. Atiku raised questions about the legality and accountability of this decision, stating that it contradicts principles of public finance and transparency.

He asserted that the government's claims of fiscal discipline are hollow, given the scale of spending through an institution not designed for such responsibilities.
