Atiku Abubakar Questions Tinubu's Cash Transfer Figures

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to clarify conflicting figures regarding the expanded cash-transfer programme. Atiku pointed out the inconsistency between the government's earlier claim of reaching 15 million vulnerable households and a recent figure of “slightly over 10 million households.” He questioned the whereabouts of the five million households that seem to be unaccounted for.

In a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku called for the Federal Government to publish detailed records of payments, including verified beneficiary households and state-by-state distribution figures. He criticized the government for worsening financial pressures on households through increased costs of fuel, transport, food, and energy.

Atiku emphasized that the government should focus on reducing the underlying economic pressures rather than merely expanding cash transfers, stating that the situation reflects a failure of economic policies that have led many into desperation.
