Atiku Abubakar Praises Rescue of 360 Boko Haram Victims

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and a member of the People's Democratic Party, praised the Nigerian military for successfully rescuing 360 individuals abducted by Boko Haram in Borno State. The rescue operation took place in the Mandara Mountain area, a known stronghold for the terrorist group.

Abubakar expressed relief for the victims and their families, who had endured months of uncertainty since their abduction in March. He acknowledged the efforts of the military and security agencies involved in the operation and expressed confidence in the Nigerian Armed Forces' ability to defeat insurgents with adequate support and political leadership.

Furthermore, he urged the government and security agencies to continue their efforts to secure the freedom of other abducted Nigerians, including nearly 100 schoolchildren and teachers reported kidnapped in Oyo State. Abubakar called for reforms in Nigeria's security architecture, emphasizing the need for greater reliance on intelligence gathering and technology to prevent future attacks.
