Atiku Abubakar Demands Action on Oyo School Abductions

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and a member of the African Democratic Congress, condemned the abduction of schoolchildren and a teacher in Oyo State, describing the incident as a reflection of the worsening security situation in Nigeria. In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku criticized the government's inadequate response to the crisis, highlighting the emotional toll on families affected by the kidnappings.

He emphasized that parents are left in despair, uncertain about the fate of their children, and called for immediate action to rescue the victims. Atiku also urged President Bola Tinubu to direct security agencies to utilize available resources to secure the release of the abducted individuals.

He condemned the government's tendency to treat such tragedies as routine news items and demanded a more robust approach to combating insecurity, warning that failure to act would embolden criminal gangs and endanger communities.
