Atiku Critiques Tinubu's Insensitive Plateau Visit

On Thursday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar criticized President Bola Tinubu's condolence visit to Plateau State, which followed a deadly attack that resulted in the deaths of at least 27 people in the Angwan Rukuba area. In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku expressed deep concern over the President's response to the tragedy, labeling it as insensitive and politically driven.

He noted that the visit failed to demonstrate genuine empathy for the victims and their families, as it was characterized by a brief stop at the airport without engaging with the grieving community. Atiku pointed out that the visit reflected a troubling pattern of disconnect between leadership and the ordinary Nigerian populace.

He criticized the lack of concrete policies or security interventions to prevent future tragedies, emphasizing that a leader should stand with the people during their darkest hours. The President acknowledged the loss and assured support for affected families but did not offer compensation for the lost lives.
