Atiku Abubakar Condemns Killings in Plateau State

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, expressed alarm over renewed killings in Plateau State, specifically during a mass burial in Barkin Ladi where gunmen reportedly attacked mourners, resulting in several injuries and fatalities. Atiku described the incident as disturbing, indicating that even burial ceremonies are no longer safe.

He criticized the government's response, particularly under President Bola Tinubu, for lacking effective counter-terror strategies. Atiku highlighted that over 2,500 people have reportedly been killed in Plateau State from 2023 to 2025, emphasizing that these are not mere statistics but lives of individuals, including fathers, mothers, and children.

He called for urgent action from federal and state governments to adopt a comprehensive strategy to end the violence and restore public confidence, stating that the people of Plateau State deserve safety, justice, and peace rather than continuous mourning and empty political rhetoric.
