Plateau Residents Criticize Tinubu's Airport Address

Residents of Plateau State have expressed their criticism towards President Bola Tinubu following his visit to the state on Thursday, where he addressed victims of the recent attacks at Yakubu Gowon Airport, located 100 kilometers from the scene of the violence. The attacks, which occurred in the Gari Yaway community of Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area, resulted in the deaths of 30 people and left several others injured.

Many residents felt that the President's choice to deliver his address at the airport, rather than visiting the victims receiving treatment in hospitals, demonstrated a lack of empathy and connection to the affected community. Social media was flooded with comments from frustrated residents, including Kacholom Luka, who questioned why the President did not meet with the injured victims directly.

Others, like Bright Gyang and Joel Poret, described the visit as insensitive, emphasizing that it primarily catered to political and religious leaders rather than addressing the needs of the victims. Rhoda Daniel also criticized the approach, stating it did not meet public expectations.
