Atiku Funds Purchase of PDP Headquarters - Aide Clarifies Ownership Amid Political Speculation

An aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, revealed that Atiku personally funded the purchase of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national headquarters in Abuja. Ibe clarified that Atiku, despite being wealthy, did not rely on public resources to build his fortune and bought the property before holding any government office.

The ownership of the PDP secretariat came into question after the Federal Capital Territory Administration revoked its land title in 2025 due to unpaid ground rent. Ibe used the opportunity to address misconceptions about Atiku's political future, stating his focus on consolidating a coalition with the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 presidential race.
