Atiku Abubakar Urges Safety for Peter Obi and El-Rufai

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, issued a statement expressing concern for the safety of Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, and Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State. He emphasized that nothing should happen to them, highlighting the obligation of the state to protect its citizens.

Atiku's statement, released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, criticized the current political climate, warning against the intimidation of opposition leaders and the diminishing of voices in democracy. He urged the federal government to focus on rescuing Nigerians held captive by kidnappers rather than engaging in political sparring.

Atiku reiterated the need for the immediate release of El-Rufai and called for a fair and impartial legal process. He stressed that the government should confront serious public controversies transparently and earn public trust by addressing pressing issues like insecurity and economic hardship.
