Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's Economic Performance

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar dismissed the State House's defense of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic record, labeling it a desperate attempt to replace performance with propaganda. Through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku emphasized that statistical manipulation cannot hide the daily struggles of millions of Nigerians.

He questioned why, if the economy is thriving, Nigerians are becoming poorer. Atiku criticized the Tinubu administration for simultaneously implementing multiple budgets while ignoring the adverse effects of its past economic decisions.

He pointed out that while the presidency celebrates macroeconomic indicators, ordinary Nigerians face harsh microeconomic realities, such as families skipping meals and businesses closing. Atiku referenced the IMF's findings, noting that 63% of Nigerians live below the national poverty line and about 27 million face food insecurity.

He concluded that governments should improve citizens' lives, not just present favorable statistics, asserting that the current administration has failed in this regard.
