Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's Economic Policies

Atiku Abubakar, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic management, stating that the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) survey reveals a dire situation for Nigerian households. The survey indicated that buying conditions for motor vehicles, consumer durables, and buildings are alarmingly low, with willingness to purchase vehicles at 18.7 points and buildings at 19.2 points.

Atiku emphasized that these figures reflect the harsh reality faced by Nigerians, who are increasingly unable to afford basic necessities. He referenced the Jollof Index, which shows that the cost of ingredients for a pot of jollof rice for a family of five has risen to an average of ₦29,578, consuming over 40% of a worker's minimum wage of ₦70,000.

Atiku condemned the Tinubu administration for celebrating macroeconomic indicators while ordinary Nigerians struggle with rising costs, stating that the disconnect between official statistics and the lived experiences of citizens is stark.
