Atiku Challenges Tinubu on PFIPC Scandal Accountability

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, has called on President Bola Tinubu to disclose the identities of government officials implicated in the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal. He stated that the interim report from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) did not exonerate the presidency but raised concerns about negligence and collusion within government processes.

Atiku questioned how an impostor, Adeniyi Adeyemi, managed to operate within official circles and gain access to government resources. He emphasized that the findings undermine the notion that the scandal was the work of a single fraudster.

President Tinubu had ordered a comprehensive investigation by the ICPC on July 7, 2026. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, has also been mentioned in the controversy and filed a N15bn defamation suit against Adeyemi.

Adeyemi faces multiple charges, including conspiracy and forgery, and is expected to appear in court later this month.
