Aide Critiques Senate Over Abaribe Defection Inquiry

Atiku Abubakar's media aide, Paul Ib, responded to the Senate's inquiry regarding Enyinnaya Abaribe's defection from the Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). During a Senate session led by President Godswill Akpabio, concerns were raised about the constitutional basis for Abaribe's defection.

Ib accused the Senate leadership of selectively invoking constitutional provisions, questioning why similar concerns were not raised when other lawmakers allegedly defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He emphasized that Abaribe had already ceased to be a member of APGA, which had indefinitely suspended him on September 26, 2025, due to alleged anti-party activities.

Ib criticized Akpabio for not focusing on legislative duties that would benefit Nigerians, suggesting that the Senate was merely serving the interests of President Bola Tinubu.
