Okowa Declares Candidacy for Delta North Senate Seat

Ifeanyi Okowa, the former governor of Delta State and ex-running mate of Atiku Abubakar, has officially declared his intention to run for the Delta North senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This announcement was made at his residence in Asaba, where he was urged by political leaders from nine local government areas within the senatorial district to seek the People's Democratic Party (PDP) ticket.

Prominent political figures, including current and former members of the National Assembly, attended the meeting to encourage Okowa's candidacy. Ndudi Elumelu, a former minority leader in the House of Representatives, presented a motion that was unanimously adopted, urging Okowa to accept the call to represent the district in the Senate.

Okowa expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and acknowledged past mistakes regarding the current Senate representation. He assured the Anioma people of his commitment to strengthening their representation at the federal level and pledged to work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure a successful election.
