Edo Rep. Osawaru Denies Government's Role in Attack

On Thursday, Billi Osawaru, a member of the House of Representatives, responded to accusations against the Edo State government concerning an alleged attack on former presidential candidate Peter Obi of the Labour Party and John Odigi Oyegun, a former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress. The attack, reportedly carried out by suspected gunmen, led to allegations that the Edo State government was complicit in sponsoring thugs for the assault.

Osawaru emphasized that such claims are baseless and politically motivated, lacking credible evidence. He condemned the violence in strong terms and highlighted the gravity of the situation, asserting that misrepresenting facts only exacerbates tensions.

Osawaru's remarks were directed at his colleague Ifeanyi Uzokw, who had made the accusations, and he urged for a thorough investigation before jumping to conclusions about the government's involvement.
