Rep Calls for Probe into Attack on Obi's Convoy

On Wednesday, Peter Uzokwa, a member of the House of Representatives representing Nnewi North and Ekwusigo in Anambra State, urged Acting Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu to conduct a thorough investigation into an attack on Peter Obi's convoy. The incident occurred near the residence of former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigi Oyegun, in Benin City, where unidentified gunmen shot at Obi's convoy, damaging vehicles but leaving Obi unharmed.

Uzokwa condemned the attack as a threat to Nigeria's democracy and called for immediate and transparent investigations into the incident, emphasizing that political violence undermines the democratic process. He urged political leaders to operate within the bounds of civil law and called for calm among Nigerians.

The attack occurred amid heightened political activity leading up to the 2027 general elections, with Obi actively engaging with stakeholders across the country.
