Edo Lawmaker Defends Gov. Okpebholo Against Attack Claims

Hon. Billi Osawaru, representing the Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde Federal Constituency in Edo State, responded to claims made by Hon.

Ifeanyi Uzokw from Anambra State regarding an alleged assassination attempt on former presidential candidate Peter Obi. Osawaru stated that Gov.

Okpebholo has nothing to gain from attacking Obi and criticized Uzokw's assertions as ill-intentioned. He highlighted the necessity for political actors to ensure their safety and security within their jurisdictions, regardless of party affiliations.

Osawaru also emphasized the importance of notifying relevant authorities ahead of serious public events to facilitate adequate security coordination, thereby protecting public safety. The comments were made during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, following an incident involving suspected thugs attacking Obi's party's state secretariat in Benin City on Tuesday.
