SERAP Sues Akpabio, Abbas Over Alleged N18.6bn Fund Diversion

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has taken legal action against Senator Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas for their alleged failure to account for the N18.6 billion allocated for the construction of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) office complex. The lawsuit, filed in the Federal High Court in Abuja, follows revelations from the 2022 annual report of the Auditor-General of the Federation, which flagged irregularities in contracts and payments linked to the project.

SERAP is seeking transparency and accountability in the management of public funds, citing breaches of public trust and constitutional provisions.
