SERAP Demands Akpabio, Abbas Accountability for Missing ₦18.6bn National Assembly Funds

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to account for the alleged missing ₦18.6 billion earmarked for the construction of the National Assembly Commission's office complex. The demand follows revelations in the 2022 annual report of the Auditor General of the Federation, signed by Deputy Director Kolawole Oluwadare.

SERAP seeks disclosure of the identities of fictitious construction companies that received the funds and questions the lack of compliance with public procurement laws. The organization emphasizes the need for transparency and accountability to restore public trust and uphold anti-corruption duties within the National Assembly.
