AU Sports Directors Meet in Abuja to Discuss Development

The African Union Sports Directors met in Abuja, Nigeria, to discuss the implementation of the African Union's sports policy framework. The workshop, held at Bon Hotel, aimed to engage sports directors from West Africa in strategies to promote sustainable sports development across the continent.

Dr. Angel Martin G., the Director of Social Development and Culture in Sports at the African Union, highlighted the significance of member states contributing to the Union's budget to maintain good standing and avoid financial sanctions.

She emphasized the AU's commitment to nurturing talent and promoting African games in preparation for international competitions. The workshop also aimed to incorporate traditional games into school systems, showcasing Africa's heritage.

The event was led by Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, alongside Hon. Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission, and Dr.

Shamshu Mustapha, Secretary General of the African Union Sports Council Region 2.
