Siasia Named AUSC Regional Ambassador for West Africa

The African Union Sports Council (AUSC) has appointed former national football team coach Samson Siasia as the regional ambassador for West Africa. The announcement was made by AUSC Secretary General Michael Mustapha during a press conference held in Abuja.

Siasia, who previously led the national team to significant achievements, including bringing laurels to the country, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and emphasized the importance of sports advocacy in the region. His role will involve leading efforts to engage support from veterans across West Africa, with a focus on giving back to their countries.

The AUSC aims to enhance sports activities in the region, particularly with the upcoming West Africa Games scheduled to take place in Gambia in June. Siasia's appointment is seen as a strategic move to revitalize sports initiatives and foster collaboration among the 15 countries in the region.
