Australia Exempts Citizens of 5 Countries from English Tests

Australia has confirmed that citizens from five English-speaking nations are exempt from submitting English language test scores when applying for the Student visa (subclass 500). This exemption extends beyond citizenship to include students sponsored by foreign affairs or defense agencies, participants in the Australian Awards and Scholarships and Exchanges Scheme (AASES), and those enrolled in specific educational programs.

Notably, South Africa is included in the exemption list despite not being a passport-holder exemption. Additionally, students who have completed at least five years of study in English in the listed countries are also exempt.

For applicants from countries like Ghana and Kenya, the automatic exemption does not apply, but they may still qualify for a waiver if they meet certain educational criteria. Those who do not qualify for any exemptions must submit scores from a recognized English language test as part of their application.
