Australia Sets AUD 6,140 Fee for Skilled Worker Visa

The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs has announced that the application fee for the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa, specifically the Direct Entry stream of the subclass 186 visa, is set at AUD 6,140 (approximately ₦6.1 million). This visa pathway is designed for skilled foreign workers who have been formally nominated by an Australian employer and wish to live and work in Australia permanently.

Unlike temporary work arrangements, the Direct Entry stream grants holders the right to remain in Australia indefinitely. To qualify, applicants must secure a nomination from an approved Australian employer, meet relevant skills and qualifications for the nominated occupation, and satisfy health and character requirements.

The Department of Home Affairs indicated that while the base application fee starts at AUD 6,140, concessions may apply in limited circumstances. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the full eligibility criteria and ensure their employer lodges a valid nomination before applying.
