Australia's Department of Home Affairs has detailed the forms of assistance available to foreigners taking the country's official citizenship test. Applicants must complete the test independently and cannot bring anyone to assist during the session.

However, a designated Test Facilitator may be present to provide specific, structured support focused on access rather than assistance with answers. This provision aims to help applicants who may face language barriers, limited digital literacy, or other challenges, ensuring the integrity of the examination is maintained.

The citizenship test is compulsory for most applicants aged between 18 and 59 and assesses their understanding of Australia, including its values and history. Conducted in English, the test can be particularly demanding for non-English speakers.

The availability of facilitator support is significant for migrants and foreign nationals who may be taking the test after years of living and working in Australia under temporary or permanent residency visas.
