Australian teenager Gout has made headlines by clocking an impressive time of 19.67 seconds in the 200m, faster than Usain Bolt's time at the same age. This achievement occurred during the national championship on a Sunday, marking Gout's first time breaking the 20-second barrier legally, having previously run 19.84 seconds last season.

Gout's performance is notable as he is the first 16-year-old to set a national record with a time of 20.06 seconds. Born in Queensland to South Sudanese parents, Gout's athletic prowess has positioned him as a significant contender in sprinting.

His recent victory indicates a shift in Australian sprinting, with two athletes now running sub-20 second times. Gout expressed relief at achieving this milestone and indicated plans to skip the Commonwealth Games starting on July 23 to focus on the World Championships in Oregon in early August.
