NADDC and Reps Seek Legislative Reforms for Automotive Sector

The House of Representatives Committee on Industry and the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) are collaborating to enhance the legislative framework governing Nigeria's automotive sector. During a four-day strategic capacity building retreat in Asaba, Delta State, they discussed the necessity of legislative reforms to adapt to global technological changes and economic challenges.

Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, the Director-General/CEO of NADDC, highlighted the automotive sector's critical role in industrialization, technology transfer, and job creation. He noted that investors have raised concerns about policy sustainability, indicating the need for a new act of parliament to boost investor confidence.

Osanipin advocated for stronger legislative oversight and suggested a total overhaul of existing laws if necessary. The retreat aimed to review global trends and their local impacts, focusing on sustaining momentum in the automotive sector through robust legislative support and agile policy adjustments.
