NBS Reports Drop in Average Cooking Gas Prices in Nigeria August 2025

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported a decrease in the average retail price for refilling a 5kg cooking gas cylinder in August 2025 to N6,404, compared to July 2025. The data also showed a decrease in the average retail price basis from August 2024.

Katsina state recorded the highest average price for refilling, while Delta had the lowest. Additionally, the NBS data revealed that Yobe had the highest average retail price for refilling a cylinder, with Adamawa and Ebonyi following.

The report highlighted the variations in prices across different zones in Nigeria.
